Born in Sulpher Springs, Texas, Gerald C. Mann (1907-1990) attended Southern Methodist University, where he was an All-American quarterback and class president in 1927. While earning a law degree from Harvard University, he also worked in a factory and as a Methodist minister to support his family with wife Anna Mary Mann.
